J69

One of the first words that comes to mind when you say Sheffield is Bassline, add those two together and the result is J69. A name very familiar in the underground scene having honed his craft for the best part of a decade. Although the Sheffield born producer is predominantly recognised for his contributions to bassline over the years appearing on the likes of 1Xtra, he’s no stranger and very well versed in grime too with his grime releases being remixed by the likes of Rude Kid & Spooky.

Having been part of the 1Forty family since Day 1 when he was part of the sold out Launch at Mint Club in October 2016 and a number of 1Forty Events & Takeovers after that, it would have been rude not to give him a release when the Label was born. With being so well rounded in Bassline, Grime & even UKG we offered him his first go at the final part of the 1Forty puzzle - UK Funky. Taking inspiration from early Lil Silva, Ill Blu & Crazy Couzins productions he nailed the classic UK Funky sound at the first time of asking with his track entitled 'Wanna Say’ on 1FFNG001.
