Since the resurgence of the underground circa 2016, the years following has brought through a charge of new producers. 1Forty has been keeping a keen eye on a number of them throughout, one of these being Leeds based OTIS. The 21 year old Huddersfield born producer initially influenced by a selection of UK Bass music since he started producing 2 years ago but in that time has been exposed to much more UKG & Bass House specifically.
‘Want U’ which was part of the ‘4 Weeks of 1Forty’ project was his first official release taking the soulful element of UKG stabs/vocals and apply them into a modern take on the early era of when house began to transition into UKG. This was picked up by Conducta for his hugely anticipated Kiwi Manifesto Mix and received continuous support on his Rinse FM residency.
OTIS’s debut release followed on from appearances at Holy Goof’s Globes Tour at Church and the o2 Academy Leeds for Detonate alongside Chase & Status, Distinct, DJ Zinc & more. He also opened proceedings at 1Forty Live #2 at BASSment. Other appearances at major venues include Canal Mills, The Warehouse as well as being ever present in his local town of Huddersfield with regular bookings at Five.
